Track mode is set automatically by category. Qty = how many identical units you have. Guns / jacks / stands are counted (pool). Special tools are signed out by name (lending) — with several, one goes out at a time until none are left.

Paste rows from Excel or type them — one tool per line. Default order:
Code, Name, Category, Home, Qty (comma or tab separated; Home & Qty optional)
Columns in a different order? Just include a header row naming them (e.g. Name, Code, Category, Home, Qty) and it maps by the header — order won't matter.
